COLOURLOCK Leather Colour for Skoda: original standard colour for factory-true leather repairs

What is COLOURLOCK Leather Colour for Skoda? — The precisely matched standard leather colour enables faithful colour refreshing and repairs to Skoda leather, ensuring a consistently uniform, factory-standard finish.

COLOURLOCK Leather Colour (Skoda) is a precisely matched standard leather colour for the professional repair, refreshing, and recolouring of Skoda leather interiors. The colours are based on original Skoda colour samples and are formulated to blend harmoniously with existing surfaces. Ideal for seat bolsters, steering wheels, armrests, door panels, and all pigmented smooth leathers in the vehicle interior where colour accuracy and OEM look are crucial.

  • Original Skoda colours – Developed according to factory-near colour samples.
  • For repair & refreshing – Ideal for abrasion, fading, and colour loss.
  • Professional finish – Optimal adhesion and uniform colour appearance.

💡 Practical tip from Detailing1 workshop: In our workshop, we often see the same problem with Skoda detailing — colour loss on seat bolsters and steering wheels is covered up with cheap care spray that doesn't last four weeks. With Leather Colour (Skoda) dabbed onto a microfiber pad in 2–3 thin layers, dried for 30 minutes in between, and finally sealed with Top Coat Dull — the result lasts 2–3 years like factory new.

Prepare, dab on thinly, seal with Top Coat

Leather Colour (Skoda) is applied in 2–3 thin layers, with 30 minutes of drying time in between, and finally sealed with Top Coat. Thin layers last for years; thick layers crack.

Before applying the colour, the leather is cleaned with leather cleaner and degreased with Plastic Cleaner or cleaning alcohol. Deep cracks and abrasion marks are filled with Filler or Super Filler and sanded smooth with 1000-grit sanding fleece. The Skoda colours are then dabbed on with a microfiber pad, wiped with a soft brush, or applied with a spray bottle for larger repairs.

After complete drying for at least 4 hours, seal with Top Coat — Dull for a matte-original OEM look, Glossy for medium shine, High Gloss for maximum brilliance. One litre of Leather Colour covers approximately 8–10 m² of leather surface; a 250 ml bottle is sufficient for a complete pair of seats including the steering wheel. The same workflow works for all components from the seat cushion to the door panel to the centre armrest.

Pigmented leather yes, natural leather and suede no

Leather Colour (Skoda) is exclusively suitable for pigmented smooth leather — the standard in modern automotive applications. Natural leather, aniline leather, and suede react differently and require other COLOURLOCK product lines.

The water-based formulation bonds with the pigment layer of modern automotive leathers, remains elastic, and accommodates leather movements without cracking. With natural leather or open-pored aniline leather, the colour absorbs unevenly into the fibres and stains the leather — here, Leather Fresh (Skoda) as a care variant or special aniline lines are used. Suede, velour, and Alcantara are treated with Nubuk Fresh (Skoda), which preserves the rough fibre structure instead of gluing it down.

If colour fidelity to the original factory colour is crucial and the component is to be extensively restored, Leather Colour is the right choice. If only a small area (steering wheel abrasion, a single crack) needs to be repaired, Fluid Leather (Skoda) in the 20 ml tube is more economical and precise. If the leather only appears slightly faded, Leather Fresh as a care variant is usually sufficient.

For detailers, workshops, and classic and youngtimer owners

Leather Colour (Skoda) is the professional choice for detailers, independent workshops, and ambitious owners who prioritise value retention and original Skoda colour fidelity over quick care solutions.

For lease returns, used car detailing, and classic and youngtimer restorations, OEM colour fidelity determines value retention and selling price. The professional 4-step workflow (clean, sand, colour, seal) takes 4 hours including drying per component and delivers a result that lasts 2–3 years like factory new. One litre of Leather Colour costs about 30 cents per 100 ml of treated area — workshop calculation including Top Coat is around 12 Euros per component.

For pure care routines without workshop tools, Leather Colour is overkill — Leather Fresh (Skoda) is sufficient there. For spot repairs on the steering wheel or individual cracks, Fluid Leather or the Leather Care Sets (Skoda) are more economical. However, if you want to restore complete seat bolsters, steering wheels, or door panels and value original Skoda colour fidelity, you cannot do without the 1-litre bottle or the 250 ml container.

What is COLOURLOCK Leather Colour for Skoda?

COLOURLOCK Leather Colour (Skoda) is a water-based, elastic standard leather dye in original Skoda shades. It is used for repairing, refreshing, or recoloring pigmented smooth leather in vehicle interiors — seats, steering wheels, armrests, door panels.

How do I apply Leather Colour (Skoda) correctly?

First, thoroughly clean and degrease the leather. Fill and sand any damage with filler. Then, dab, wipe, or spray on thin layers of Leather Colour — 2–3 thin coats are better than one thick one. After complete drying, seal with Top Coat (Dull/Glossy/High Gloss).

What is the difference to Leather Fresh?

Leather Colour is the professional repair dye (1L/250ml, can be sealed with Top Coat). Leather Fresh is the care color cream (1L/100ml) for lighter refreshings without extensive preparation. For deep abrasion → Leather Colour; for dull surfaces → Leather Fresh.

Do the colors really match Skoda exactly?

The shades are based on original Skoda factory color samples. For heavily faded leathers, we still recommend a color test in an inconspicuous area, as the original leather darkens or fades over the years.

What are the most common mistakes we see in the workshop?

Three classics: (1) Leather not degreased beforehand — paint doesn't adhere. (2) Too thick a layer applied — cracks when drying. (3) Top Coat sealant omitted — abrasion resistance less than 6 months. With proper preparation, the result lasts 2–3 years.

Do I absolutely need a Top Coat?

Yes, for durable abrasion resistance. Without Top Coat, the color on seat bolsters and steering wheels will rub off again within a few weeks. Top Coat Dull = matte-original (OEM-look), Glossy = medium gloss, High Gloss = high gloss.

Care instructions for Leather Color (Skoda):

Leather Color (Skoda) is exclusively suitable for pigmented smooth leather – the standard in modern automotive applications. Natural leather, aniline leather, and suede react differently and require different COLOURLOCK product lines.

The water-based formulation bonds with the pigment layer of modern automotive leathers, remains elastic, and adapts to leather movements without cracking. On natural leather or open-pored aniline leather, the color absorbs unevenly into the fibers and discolors the leather blotchy – in these cases, Leather Fresh (Skoda) as a care variant or special aniline lines are used. Suede, velour, and Alcantara are treated with Nubuck Fresh (Skoda), which preserves the rough fiber structure instead of sticking it together.

If color fidelity to the original factory color is crucial and the component is to be extensively restored, Leather Color is the right choice. If only a small area (steering wheel abrasion, single crack) needs to be repaired, Fluid Leather (Skoda) in the 20 ml tube is more economical and precise. If the leather only appears slightly faded, Leather Fresh as a care variant is usually sufficient.
