What is COLOURLOCK Fluid Leather for VW? — This highly pigmented repair paint in a 20 ml tube is made for pinpoint fixes on VW leather — no spray kit needed.
COLOURLOCK Fluid Leather (VW) is a liquid, highly pigmented leather repair paint in a 20 ml tube — built for spot-on repairs of small damage like cracks, scratches and colour rub-off on VW leather interiors. The colour is based on original VW colour samples and goes on cleanly with a brush or sponge.
💡 Day-to-day from Detailing1: We reach for Fluid Leather (VW) on steering-wheel repairs — the classic wear at 12 o'clock. One tube gets you 5–8 steering-wheel jobs. Soft-bristle brush, dab it on cross-wise, let it dry 30 min between coats, Top Coat Dull over the top — you can't tell it from new.
Fluid Leather (VW) goes straight from the 20 ml tube onto a soft brush or sponge and gets dabbed cross-wise in 1–2 thin coats over the repair spot. Let it dry 20–30 min in between, then seal it with Top Coat at the end.
Before the repair, clean the spot with leather cleaner and degrease it with plastic cleaner or cleaning alcohol. Deeper cracks get levelled first with Filler or Super Filler and sanded smooth with 1000-grit pad. Then you dab the highly pigmented Fluid Leather (VW) right onto the prepped spot — thin cross-wise coats cover better than one thick pass.
Once it's fully cured after about 4 hours, seal it with Top Coat Dull or Glossy to make the repair rub-proof. A 20 ml tube gets you 5–8 steering-wheel repairs or roughly 15 individual crack fixes. Cost per repair works out at about 10 euros, and a full steering-wheel restoration takes around 3 hours including drying.
Fluid Leather (VW) is the go-to for spot repairs — single cracks, scratches or smaller rub marks up to about 5x5 cm. Larger repairs call for Leather Colour in the 250 ml or 1 litre size.
The heavy pigmentation and the tube format make Fluid Leather go a long way and stay precise — even on dark leather one coat is often enough for full coverage. On repairs bigger than 5x5 cm or whole bolsters the tube won't stretch, though, and dabbing by hand stops paying off. Suede and nubuck surfaces need Nubuk Fresh (VW) anyway, since Fluid Leather would mat down the rough nap.
If you're only fixing 12-o'clock steering-wheel wear or single cracks, Fluid Leather is the most economical and precise call. When you're restoring whole seat sets, steering wheels or door cards, it's worth switching to Leather Colour (VW) or the Complete Repair Set (VW) with every component.
Fluid Leather (VW) is the fix for targeted spot repairs — detailers, independent garages and keen owners who want to sort steering-wheel wear or single cracks with precision.
On used-car prep, 12-o'clock steering-wheel wear is the usual suspect. A tube of Fluid Leather costs about 67 euros and gets you 5–8 steering-wheel repairs — that's material cost of roughly 10 euros per job. With a brush and Top Coat the whole repair per wheel runs about 3 hours including drying. After two weeks of use you can't tell the result from a brand-new wheel.
For plain care with no damage, Fluid Leather is the wrong route — Leather Fresh (VW) is all you need there. For whole bolsters or full panels it pays to switch to Leather Colour. But if you want to fix single damaged spots with OEM colour accuracy, the 20 ml tube is the most economical and precise tool in the COLOURLOCK line-up.

Not sure about Koch-Chemie × COLOURLOCK COLOURLOCK "Fluid Leather" (VW) — leather repair paint for VW? Get it explained:
COLOURLOCK Fluid Leather (VW) is a highly pigmented, liquid leather repair dye in a 20 ml tube. It is used for precise repair of small damaged areas on VW leather – cracks, scratches, color abrasion.
Clean and degrease the damaged area, if necessary, level and sand with filler. Apply Fluid Leather directly from the tube onto a brush/sponge and dab precisely onto the repair area. Let it dry, apply a second coat if needed, then seal with Top Coat.
Fluid Leather (VW) has significantly higher pigmentation and comes in a 20 ml tube – perfect for spot repairs. Leather Colour is available in 250 ml or 1 liter and is sprayed/wiped for large-area applications. For a single crack → Fluid Leather, for an entire seat surface → Leather Colour.
Yes – Fluid Leather has no sealant of its own. Without Top Coat, the repair will rub off within a few weeks in heavily stressed areas (seat bolster, steering wheel). Use Top Coat Dull for an original matte look, Glossy for a slight sheen.
Classics: (1) Damaged area not degreased – poor color adhesion. (2) Too much material at once – looks like a repair instead of original. (3) No Top Coat – repair comes off. With filler + sanding + thin application + Top Coat, it lasts 2+ years.
For a completely worn-out steering wheel, probably not – we would plan for 2 tubes. For classic 12 o'clock abrasion over 4–5 cm in length, one tube is easily enough for 5–8 repairs.
Care instructions for leather repair dye (VW):
Fluid Leather (VW) is the special solution for spot repairs - individual cracks, scratches or minor scuffs up to approx. 5x5 cm. Large-area repairs require Leather Colour in 250 ml or 1 liter containers.
The high pigmentation and the tube format make Fluid Leather extremely economical and precise - even on dark leathers, one coat is often enough for full coverage. However, for repairs larger than 5x5 cm or entire seat bolsters, the contents of the tube would not be sufficient, and dabbing by hand would be uneconomical. Suede and velour surfaces require Nubuk Fresh (VW) anyway, as Fluid Leather would stick to the rough texture.
If only 12 o'clock steering wheel abrasion or individual cracks are to be repaired, Fluid Leather is the most economical and precise choice. If entire seat groups, steering wheels or door panels are to be restored, it is worth switching to Leather Colour (VW) or the Complete Repair Set (VW) with all components.
