What does a quick detailer actually do in a pro setting? It's a spray-on quick sealant for fast care between washes — it lifts light dirt, brings the gloss back and lays a fresh layer of protection on the paint, all without a full wash.
Between washes, dust, water spots and light road grime build up on the paint and leave the car looking flat — without a full wash being needed or worth the effort. That's exactly what the SONAX PROFILINE QuickDetailer is built for: a spray detailer that freshens the look on dry or slightly damp surfaces, pulls dirt off and lays down a fresh layer of sealant at the same time. In the 5-litre pro container it's the cost-effective tool for daily use in detailing shops and car dealerships.
Quick detailers get reached for more often in pro work than you'd think at first: the final wipe-down after polishing, freshening the look once a car's dried, prepping a vehicle for photos — every time, a quick detailer is the fastest route to a flawless shine. The 5-litre size of the PROFILINE QuickDetailer keeps that step affordable for shops with high vehicle throughput, without cutting any corners on product quality.
Day-to-day from Detailing1: For the best results with the QuickDetailer, work panel by panel: spray the product onto the paint, spread it lightly with the first side of a soft microfibre cloth, then wipe it off streak-free with the second side or a fresh cloth. This "apply-and-remove" technique stops the product from over-drying across big panels, especially in the sun or in warm weather. You can also reach for the PROFILINE QuickDetailer after polishing to pull off the last polish residue and bring the final gloss back — a fast last step that noticeably lifts the polishing result.
The pro detailer from SONAX is built on a polymer-wax formula that lays down a thin, protective layer as it goes onto the paint. The polymers line themselves up on the surface and form an even, hydrophobic layer that beads water and gives dirt particles less to grab onto. Once you've wiped it off with the microfibre cloth, the protection is active straight away — no curing time, no waiting.
The QuickDetailer's spray viscosity is dialled in so it clings to the surface without running off and spreads easily with the cloth. Detailers that are too thin run straight off and never leave an even layer. Ones that are too thick are a pain to spread and tend to streak. The PROFILINE formula hits the sweet spot where the viscosity makes both laying it down and wiping it off easier.
Another technical edge of the PROFILINE formula is its temperature stability. A lot of cheap quick detailers are touchy about heat: in direct sun or on paint that's heated up in summer, the product flashes off too fast and leaves streaks or white residue. The PROFILINE formula includes evaporation retarders that keep the working window open even at higher temperatures. In practice that means you can lay the detailer down and wipe it off panel by panel at a good pace even in summer conditions, without the product drying onto the paint before the cloth follows. That's especially handy for mobile detailers who work in changing weather and don't have a climate-controlled studio to fall back on.
How streak-free the finish comes out depends on two things: the formula and the glide of the cloth you wipe with. The microfibre cloth is a big part of how well the QuickDetailer wipes off. A soft, fine-pile microfibre like the SONAX PROFILINE MicrofaserTuch "Soft Touch" is ideal for the wipe-off — the fibres take up the product completely without dragging the fresh layer back off. Too coarse a cloth would disturb the even layer and throw streaks.
The QuickDetailer's protection doesn't last forever — it's no replacement for a full sealant or a coating. Its strength is in how often you use it: if you run a quick detailer at every wash or refresh, you keep the paint in good shape continuously and stretch the life of an existing base sealant considerably. The quick-detailer idea is an add-on to your sealing system — not a stand-in for it.
For shops that work with ceramic coatings or high-end long-life polymer sealants, using the right quick detailer really matters. A quick detailer that leaves wax residue on an active ceramic coating can mask the ceramic layer's hydrophobics for a while and throw off the coating's gloss. The polymer-wax formula of the PROFILINE QuickDetailer is designed for vehicles without an active ceramic coating — for cars under a ceramic seal, go for the SONAX XTREME Ceramic QuickDetailer with SiO₂ particles, which tops up the ceramic layer compatibly instead of masking it. For shops that look after both kinds of customer, that product choice is an important quality point.
There are plenty of ways the QuickDetailer earns its keep in a pro shop. The most common is at vehicle handover: a freshly cleaned car, dried off after the wash, gets a brilliant shine and a fresh layer of protection from the QuickDetailer as the last step before it goes to the customer. That final step takes 10–15 minutes for a whole car and leaves a professional first impression that sticks with the customer.
After polishing, the QuickDetailer is the finale: any polish residue left as a faint haze on the paint wipes off streak-free with the QuickDetailer and leaves a glass-clear high gloss. Here the QuickDetailer takes the place of the time-consuming wipe-down with separate cloths and spray alcohol — the one-step route is faster and gentler on freshly polished paint.
The QuickDetailer is just as good for a mid-cycle refresh on cars in a dealership showroom: fingerprints, dust films and light touch marks come off without a full wash. A staff member who freshens the showroom cars daily with the QuickDetailer keeps the display vehicles presentation-ready all the time — a small effort with a big payoff for how customers see the cars.
One often underrated use of the QuickDetailer is in vehicle photography. Dealer, detailing shop or private seller — anyone prepping a car for proper photos knows that the camera and the light expose every water spot, every dust trail and every dull patch without mercy. In a few minutes the quick detailer gets the paint reflecting perfectly for the shots: brilliant high gloss, no streaks, no fingerprints. The result is car photos that look professional and show the vehicle's sale value in an online listing far better than untouched shots. For dealerships that photograph a lot of cars every day, a lasting stock of quick detailer isn't a luxury — it's a sales-driving tool of the trade.
The QuickDetailer's 5-litre container covers a pro's needs for many months. In detailing shops with high vehicle throughput, a big stock of quick detailer matters — you never want to run out, since it's indispensable in the final steps of the detailing process. The 5-litre container lets you fill several spray bottles for different stations and keeps the work flowing without interruption.
Mobile detailers who work on site at the customer's benefit from a central 5-litre stock they top their working bottles from for each job. A 500 ml spray bottle covers several cars, and the big supply keeps you going for weeks. The QuickDetailer concentrate can also be thinned down a touch to tune the spray behaviour to different climate conditions.
For shops with several stations or several cars in detailing at once, it pays to decant the 5-litre container into smaller working bottles and set them up at each station. Spray bottles holding 500–750 ml with a fine-mist head are ideal: the fine mist spreads the product evenly across the paint without concentrating it, and stops overdosing. Too coarse a spray would let the product drip, and on dry paint that makes little wet spots that end up applied unevenly when you spread them with the cloth. The right spray technique — from 20–30 cm away, an even sweep across the panel — matters just as much as the product itself in pro use.
The SONAX PROFILINE BrilliantShine Detailer is the next step up in the PROFILINE sealant range: more depth of gloss, stronger sealing performance, ideal for special detailing finishes. The PROFILINE QuickDetailer is the everyday product for regular use — more economical to run through, faster to apply, tuned for daily throughput.
Within the SONAX detailer range, the PROFILINE QuickDetailer sits as the professional workhorse: it's not the show product for the competition detailer, it's the cost-effective everyday tool for shops with high vehicle throughput. Next to the SONAX XTREME "BrilliantShine" Detailer from the consumer range, the PROFILINE QuickDetailer offers a far more economical 5-litre format and a formula tuned to professional users.
If you specialise in ceramic coatings, you'll reach for the SONAX XTREME Ceramic QuickDetailer — with SiO₂ protective particles for cars under an active ceramic coating. The PROFILINE QuickDetailer runs a classic polymer-wax formula and suits any vehicle with no specific coating requirement. Both products have their place — the choice comes down to the type of seal that's active on the car.
The 5-litre container is aimed at detailing shops, dealerships and mobile detailers who use a quick detailer daily and get the most out of a cost-effective large format. The quality is PROFILINE standard — professional performance at a price worked out for non-stop use.
Using a quick detailer regularly also shifts your long-term paint-care strategy for the better. Cars refreshed with a quick detailer every 1–2 weeks build up a thin sealant layer continuously between full washes. That keeps water spots and rain minerals from etching in deep — the kind that, on unsealed surfaces, gradually leave the clearcoat looking dull and uneven. This preventive effect is especially valuable in professional fleet management and with leased vehicles: cars that come back looking fresh and sealed avoid return complaints and spare the business the heavy detailing work that would otherwise pile up right before the lease ends. As a routine tool, the quick detailer saves more time and money over the long run than it costs.
Run the PROFILINE QuickDetailer together with the PROFILINE MicrofaserTuch "Soft Touch" and you've got the ideal pairing for streak-free wipe-off and even high gloss. The 5-litre QuickDetailer container plus a set of Soft Touch cloths is the complete kit for professional quick care — from the handover polish to the daily showroom refresh.
